  1. My grandiose scheme to convert HTML to MIME and SGML
  2. works fine.

  4. Now I'm going back to the idea of writing a DTD for
  5. the existing HTML format. I can't seem to do it.
  6. HTML has so little rigid structure that I'm running
  7. into mixed content problems (I have to allow #PCDATA
  8. almost anywhere, hence mixed content, which screws
  9. up everything).

  11. How much extant HTML is really out there? And how
  12. much of it is generated on the fly by gateways
  13. and servers?

  15. This MIME/SGML stuff sure seems like the way to go.

  17. Now if I make it possible to create such documents
  18. with FrameMaker and a perl script, I bet it will
  19. catch on. I suspect I'll get some resistance against
  20. abandoning UDI's, but I don't think they work.
